Where Do We Go Now?
by Jay Stewart
I'm in the process of wrapping up all of the main work that goes along with getting an album release together. It's been a learning experience. It takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of money. But it's worth it, right? RIGHT? Please someone tell me it's worth it so I can validate my existence.
More importantly now is what comes next. Recording the songs on Daytime Lullaby has been my focus for over 3 months. Now that it's done, what should I do? I know nobody is reading this so I'm just going to think out loud about some of the ideas I have.
1) Punk Rock Piano Bar - I would take requests for punk covers and record as many songs as I can leading up to the release date of Daytime Lullaby (October 25th, PREORDER HERE!) I probably would have enough songs to put out an EP by that time.
2) Start focusing on new original songs - This is definitely going to happen at some point, it's just a matter of when. I really enjoyed doing a more acoustic sounding record with Daytime Lullaby, but in the future I will be recording additional instrumentation on new songs. I did this with the album version of Seeing in Dark, but you haven't heard that yet.
3) Synth Pop! - Man I had fun writing Unfair which I did with a synth app on my phone. I feel like I maybe have a knack for writing melodies for that type of music. I could maybe do a couple originals and maybe a couple remixes of songs I've previously recorded. That would probably add up to an EP as well.
Outside of that, I'll be figuring out ways to promote Daytime Lullaby. I plan on doing some live recordings of me trying to play some of these songs.
So anyway, this probably reads more like a journal entry than a blog post, but I know nobody is reading it, so that's kind of how I am treating it.
